My Two Happy Campers had smiles from ear to ear celebrating their 2nd birthday this weekend, and so did the decor! The Smiley Face/Happy Camper birthday theme did not disappoint and I am so obsessed with how it all came together. I set up a tent in the yard for a movie night, along with a fun smiley face backdrop for pictures, gifts and cake. It was the perfect way to make their day special even though we decided not to throw a huge party like usual. Sharing all the links, all the DIYs and all the fun! Let’s get into it!
Happy Camper Set Up
We set up a cute pink camping tent outlined with a balloon arch, an air mattress, pillows, blankets and balloons inside, and the wooden backdrop that my husband made for me for the girl’s 1st birthday party last year. I used my Cricut to cut out the “Two Happy Campers” phrase on vinyl to add to the wood back drop. The twins spent the whole day jumping on the air mattress and it was the perfect movie viewing spot once the sun set. Having the air mattress took place of a bounce house and I swear they had just as much fun and we could actually see them jumping!

Happy Face Backdrop
I am most proud of this Happy Face Backdrop DIY that I put together. I got my inspiration for this from the girl’s rompers that I feel in love with (so cute, right?!) For the backdrop, I used hula hoops and plastic table covers and it cost me less than $30! You can check out the full tutorial here. This was the perfect spot to take pictures and a great backdrop for gifts, singing happy birthday and just a great focal point. I also put together the large number 2 as a photo prop, using a balloon mosaic printable, a trifold display board and some poster board. It was pretty easy to hot glue together, the hardest part was cutting out the two on the trifold board with a box cuter.

Dinner & Dessert
The dinner menu for the Happy Campers included chicken and waffles, Mac n Cheese and watermelon. Waffles are my kid’s main food group so I was legit jumping up and down when I found the perfect happy face waffle maker for the occasion. We also had a simple happy face birthday cake made by my momma and a popcorn bar for the movie!

Balloon Arch
This is now my third balloon arch attempt for different events and I decided to finally invest in some balloon arch tools. Let me just say that I will never do a balloon arch without these tools again. I used an electric balloon inflator and a balloon arch stand kit, and oh my goodness it was so easy! Literally only took my husband and I maybe 45 minutes. It’s funny because we accidentally left the amazon package with the balloon inflator and arch kit on our porch over night and sadly it was stolen so I had to buy it again. But I’d honestly pay double again, it was so worth it.
