Kid crafts are fun but sometimes it’s a lot of work and prep for just a few seconds of entertainment. However, if the crafts are cute enough to use as decor for your home too, well then it’s a win, win! Sharing two spring crafts that you can get the kids involved in and use as seasonal decor when you’re done. Keep reading for everything you’ll need for each craft, as long as some tips to making sure the end result is display worthy!
Bunny Squad
Before the kids get involved, you will want to prep the bunnies by placing one of your letter stickers on each bunny. We had 6 bunnies so we spelled out the word Easter. As you can tell by the little fingers, the kid’s will be anxious so I recommend having this step done beforehand if possible.
Now that the bunnies are prepped and ready, let the kids go town painting the bunnies. I let them do all the painting, just encouraging them to cover the entire front of each bunny.
This is a crucial step. Make sure to pull the bunnies as soon as the fronts are painted. If you let the kids paint too long all the colors will mix into a not so pretty color. Make sure to have a second project for them to paint as they will probably still be interested. I pulled out some wooden eggs that I had on hand.
While the paint is still wet, use tweezers or even a toothpick to remove the stickers, revealing the word you spelled out on your bunnies.
Once the letters are removed, you’ll let the bunnies dry. Then you can hot glue a Pom Pom to the back for a tail if you’d like.
Spring Wall Decor
Before you get the kids involved, set up stations with one sponge, a good amount of paint on a plate and one canvas. I spaced out the stations a bit in hopes that the kids wouldn’t mix colors.
I showed them how to use the sponge and then let them do the rest. Don’t worry too much if they aren’t making perfect shapes, they are just helping with the first of 3 layers. When they cover a good amount of the canvas, grab it to let dry and give them something else to paint if they are still interested.
I was super bummed when my variety pack of paint sponges didn’t include a bunny but I ended up using a few peeps instead and that worked just as well!
Once the first layer is dry, you’ll add a second and third layer yourself. Allow the second layer to dry and then add a third.
Once the paint is dry, I cut some wooden dowels to fit the sides of the canvas and hot glued them on to frame it.
There you have it, two kid crafts cute enough to use as decor! I would love to hear your favorite in the comments below. As always, thanks so much for reading!
